This is an excellent movie, and not just because it was nominated for some Academy Awards.
Here are the reasons I saw it: George Micheal (Micheal Cera) from Arrested Development is in it, Jennifer Garner is in it, Micheal (Jason Bateman) from Arrested Development is in it, and there was an indie rock element to it.
Here are the reasons I would see it again: the performances are excellent, as well as the movie as a whole, but it was also hilarious!
When R and I saw this with some friends a few weeks ago, we had a very entertaining moment during the film. You will probably only think this is funny if you get this premise: I don't know who of you out there (a) share my taste in music and (b) have also tried at some point to get into Sonic Youth, and then failed to see what all the hype was about. There's a line in the film where Juno yells that she "listened to Sonic Youth and it's just noise". R and I both had this same experience in our high school days and after laughing loudly realized that we were the only ones in a full theater who thought this was funny. Then we started giggling because of our conspicuous weirdness, not only to be the only ones laughing but also that we were obviously a certain type of high schooler grown up.
Anyways, go see it. Also, try out some Sonic Youth. Or not.
