Hardly anyone will care about this but: in case you are looking to find a better alternative to Mederma for scar treatment, I found one at Whole Foods called Derma E Scar Gel. That is what I am using on E's lip. The reason I did not want to use the Mederma: three of the ingredients are known carcinogens and/or unregulated. Those three are PEG-10, Fragrance, and methylparaben. (According to the EWG website anything with "PEG" in it is bad, parabens in general are bad, and fragrance is bad because it can mean almost anything, you never know.)
Rant: These filler ingredients are dangerous! I get upset when they put them in children products like shampoo, bubble bath, sunscreen, scar gel, toothpaste, hair products, hand wash, etc. We should be able to trust that what we are buying is safe, and we cannot. Lame! I read ALL my labels now.

That's why I read labels, to lend a friendly ear! Torrie just called me about some baby wipes not 10 minutes ago :)

K-I really admire you....for so many reasons. One of them, you check labels. I rely on the fact taht I have turned out ok and my parents just used whatever, so I trust that all will be cool for me and my family....not that I am planning any dramatic changes, but I do look up to you. And yes, if ever you do publish those cliff notes, I will certainly buy a copy...maybe you should do it as an entreprenuring project....
hey, I was reading about silver a bit back...and in relation to burn victims, the silver treatment they use to prevent bacteria also allowed the nerves under the skin to grow back (even the fingerprint patterns of skin would come back). I guess without it, even though the skin could grow back, the nervous system underneath would not, or would take a very long time doing so. (Have I exposed you to any silver info yet?)
I'm thinking maybe one of the over the counter creams typically sold for burns would be a great addition to his lip healing. I could look up details if you want.
(The silver is considered 100% safe, externally, by "everyone" esp the homeopathy community and including the FDA....so no controversy there unlike most things, I guess, as usual, the cream's other ingredients would be up to question. If so maybe just a good colloidal liquid :) )
My brother's Dr gave him one of the standard silver burn creams when he scorched his whole face (yucky story) and he has full restoration without a single scar - as though it never happened (although there was a bit of a miracle involved, the silver had a major part to do with it)- It's a happy thing. :)
Cool, I should look at that. I am a little hesitant because he might get some in his mouth. Still I'm curious to read about it and check it out.
