I Love...This Thing!

It was recently my birthday on September 11th, which brought along with it reflections on the national tragedy in conjuction with the Birthday Fairy.  The Birthday Fairy is my mother's invention (don't tell my kids!), and she makes birthday mornings ever so much fun!  You wake up on your birthday with a trail of goodies from your bed to the living room where, like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, you get some presents.  My kids love it, even when it's their mom's birthday.  M woke me up bursting and said "come see what you got, it's so exciting!!"

This year I chose several items from Amazon to "help" the Birthday Fairy choose things that I would truly love to have.  I found an old Super Nintendo game I used to love to play when I was a kid visiting my cousins house for under $10, as well as an almond flour cookbook to give support to my GAPS diet, and a CD that I haven't heard in years.  But the thing I am loving most is having this little doohickey around.  It's a scalp massager and I love it.  It relieves my stress and it was about $3, which relieves my stress a little more, ha!  The first time I used it on M he stopped in his tracks with half-closed eyes and said "it makes me feel all shiver-y".  Exactly.

M's Birthday. He's 4!

Well, M had a great birthday in spite of the fact that I was with E at the hospital for half of it. He spent the night at Grandma's, helped make his cake in the shape of a Golden Snitch that morning (complete with white frosting wings), got to eat cupcakes and Mexican food for dinner, had a visit from the Birthday Fairy after I got home and he woke up from his nap, and got to open a pile of presents when Daddy got home from work.

Hands down the favorite toy: Marbulous. He has played with that plastic marble run for at least 2-3 hours per day since his birthday. Oh, how I love that toy! I love that little man, getting so big and tall. For the record he is very into Wall-e, Harry Potter, Wipeout, Trouble, puzzles, butterflies, "swimming" with his stuffed water animals, playing his piano and dancing, and generally running around like a hyper little boy. We always joke that he's our little raccoon. Only it's kind of not a joke. :)
Two squash M grew himself in the garden.

The birthday spoils.

I'm an aunt!

My sister T had her baby V last week, and he's beautiful! He weighed close to 9 pounds and was 21 inches long. It sounds like the doctor was right to induce T so early, or he might've gotten stuck or something. Plus, V was born on R's birthday, with only 2 1/2 hours to spare (before being born on a less cool day). So now R feels a kinship with his new nephew and has sent a copy of the Miles Davis album "Kind of Blue" to try and influence his birthday-sharer's interests :)

It's a nice thing, to have nieces and nephews on both sides of the family now. I was the only one out of my siblings with a kiddo until last week, so now I'm Aunt K on both sides, and it's nice! It's made a little neater (sorry R's family's kids) by the fact that we have genes in common, you know? It's my sister's baby, crazy! Plus M might play with the little guy at future Christmases or what have you. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside!
.................................................................................................................................................................

Also, my little sister M is turning 19 today. I'd like to give a shout out to her, and how great I think she is: We have a lot in common and love to talk about anything and everything. She will vent to me, and let me vent to her. She's extremely understanding and really listens when you talk to her. She used to have long long hair, but from what I've heard, has cut it off in a fetching new do. She is attending hair school in Utah and is enjoying it so much that she's actually excited to have a job in her field (a good thing to feel). She's got freckles, and because of them reminds me of strawberries. She's got good taste in music, and likes to go to live shows. The voice mail message on her cell phone says "You've reached M. Congratulations." and makes me laugh every time. She's beautiful, and has repeatedly amazed me with her determination and ability to make her goals come to fruition. She's worked hard to get where she is and knows her worth and is proud, but is still grateful for what she's been given. She has dreams and aspirations that are all about being artistic and wholesome and creative, and is admirable for it. She's basically wonderful. Happy Birthday Mimcay! You're the greatest and I love you :)
